“Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.”

Matthew 5:14-16 (The Message translation )

This world can cause us to feel alone and limited by presets on who and what we can be. Be still reminds me that God has created us with one-of-a-kind purposes, to love others. Like shades of orange, purple, and yellow paint a sunset, our love of others and uniqueness beautifies this world. For clarity in life, we need to seek God in moments of quiet solitude—stillness. As he said himself, “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalms 46:10)

  • Oh, my love
    Take a moment
    To think about such things
    The beauty that I painted
    And happiness I bring

I made you to paint color in the sky
The world don't have to be so black and white
I know this world will tell you otherwise
Just keep your eyes on me

'Cause I can see the person you're becoming
The downfalls of this year don't mean a thing
All you have to do is love on people
I see you now, you're beautiful to me
    Be still

    Oh, beloved, ooh-ooh
    Take a second
    To reminisce on me
    To think about the people
    I've given you to see

I made you to paint color in the sky
The world don't have to be so black and white
I know this world will tell you otherwise
Just keep your eyes on me

'Cause I can see the person you're becoming
The downfalls of this year don't mean a thing
All you have to do is love on people
I see you now, you're beautiful to me

Remember there ain't nothing you can't handle
Through me, there ain't a mountain you can't move
This year may look like an uphill battle
But I promise you, it's promising to me

I made you to paint color in the sky
The world don't have to be so black and white
I know this world will tell you otherwise
Just keep your eyes on me
